What happens when a person has sensitive teeth

One cause of sensitivity is having gums that are receding. The gums of the teeth pull back and expose the surface beneath called the dentin.  The dentin is a soft layer that is part of the inner part and roots, which have thousands of tiny tubes that lead to the tooth nerves center called the pulp.  When hot or cold fluids reach the nerve in your tooth the response is a surge of uncomfortable pain.
